Hurðaskellir or Door Slammer (18th Dec.) is the seventh Yule Lad to journey down from the mountains.
Surprisingly not interested in pilfering food like most of his brothers, Hurðaskellir has a much more disturbing obsession: door slamming. Every door he comes across he must give a good slam, often repeatedly. For maximum effect and greatest pleasure, he indulges his desire in the middle of the night.

The seventh was Door Slammer,
a sorry, vulgar chap:
When people in the twilight
would take a little nap,
he was happy as a lark
with the havoc he could wreak,
slamming doors and hearing
the hinges on them squeak.
Origin of the Icelandic Yule Lads
The 13 Yule Lads are the sons of Grýla and Leppalúði. They come to town one by one during the last 13 nights before Yule.
